Outside the meeting, activists talked with press, educated passers-by, joined the press conference, and delivered the messages of hundreds of other concerned citizens from around the country who could not attend. Afterward, activists rallied around the speakers at the Exxpose Exxon press conference where speakers highlighted the inconsistencies between Exxon’s new rhetoric and its old persistent policies. Inside the meeting, more than a dozen activists stood in unity as campaign director Shawnee Hoover delivered a speech directly to Rex Tillerson and Exxon’s board. Together, our efforts inside and outside the meeting helped step up the pressure on ExxonMobil to stop denying the urgency of global warming, stop funding denier groups and support mandatory reductions of global warming pollution.
